What goes on a contractor invoice
- Project name and job address, plus a reference to the signed estimate or contract.
- Which stage or milestone this invoice covers — 'progress invoice 2 of 3'.
- Work completed in this period, with labor and materials separated.
- Each approved change order as its own line, numbered.
- Deposits and earlier payments received, subtracted from the total.
- Retainage, if your contract holds some back until completion.
- Payment terms and the balance due.
